Brewster, NY
As the expansion of New York City and Danbury, Connecticut grew in the 19th century, farmland in the Hudson Valley was sold and developed. The Palmer family assisted in the construction process.
Four generations ago John T. and twin sons Henry and Ed Palmer were carpenters, farmers and iceman. The twins were also both highway superintended.
One of Henry's sons, Francis (Fran; 1925-2018), carried on the family's 'do it all' lifestyle. Fran became the family's first-generation master plumber when licenses & building codes were adopted by local building departments in the 1960s.
During World War II, Fran enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Augusta (CA-31) a Northampton-class heavy cruiser and the USS Lang (DD-399) a Benham-class destroyer. After WWII, Fran worked for Brewster Plumbing Company from 8-to-4 and would then go work for the railroad, steam fitting cargo trains that delivered goods and produce to NYC.
In 1949, Fran established Palmer Plumbing. Over the next ten years, the Palmer family grew by six (all male). All of whom worked for Fran, either at the plumbing company or his other businesses, Palmer-Macomber Fuel Oil and Southeast Builders.
Today, Dennis and his three sons (Kyle, Darren and Frank) work together with their great team of employees to assist their communities.
